Surat: Three from the city have made it to the top 100 in Common Medical entrance examination (NEET), 2017. Of the three is also Nishita Purohit who had topped the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance. The other two students to make the city proud are, Vishnu Singhal and Adarsh Jha. Nishita, Vishnu and Adarsh secured the 11th, 23rd and 84th rank, respectively, in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Nishita, who is rejoicing in double achievements, plans to go for AIIMS over any other medical college in the country.
An elated Nishita was expecting to be in the top 10, but none the less she is happy with her results. From a family of IIT alumni, she had passed Class XII from a Kota school and secured 91.04 per cent. She aims to get into endocrinology research.
Vishnu, who secured the 23rd rank all over India, completed his class 12th with 96%. He attributes his success to the immense support by his mother. He lost his father at a young age and was raised by his mother.
And finally, Adarsh Jha who secured 84th rank was expecting to be in top 25, though he was expecting to make it to the top 25. Son of a businessman in the city, Jha had secured 95 per cent in Class XII.
A total of 6,11,539 out of 11,38,890 students from all over India have cleared the NEET which was held on May 7 and results were declared on Friday.
