Palanpur (Banaskantha): The Gujarat Common Entrance Test just got declared on Tuesday and while the high scorers are busy celebrating their success, here are few who must be highly disappointed with their results. But one of the disappointments reached to a level that an 18-year-old who took the test ended up committing suicide after he failed the test.
Maulik Chauhan from Palanpur city of Banaskantha district disappeared after the GujCET results were announced. His family later found on the first floor of their house in Modinagar locality of the city only to find him hanging dead from the ceiling fan. Maulik had cleared his class twelfth examination with a decent 65 per cent but the GujCET failure led him to take the extreme step.
Maulik’s father Kamlesh works as a school teacher in Suigam. His relative Naresh Darji told the police that the exam result was the sole reason behind Maulik ending his life.
Police sub-Inspector KD Bhrambhatt of Palanpur East said though it seems to be the failure in the test pushed him to the drastic step but they will be interrogating his parents later to seek more clarity. His parents at the moment are in a state of shock and not prepared to answer their questions and thus they will get back to them once they get normal.
