Surat, August 23, 2017: T M Patel International School managed in association with the Indian arm of Pearson, world’s leading learning company, organized the second edition of inter-school cultural fest – ‘TIRANGAA 2017’ at Surat. With an aim to celebrate the bond with Mother Nature, by exploring the greener ways of living, the theme of Tirangaa 2017 was “Celebrating the Environment”. The fest hosted at T M Patel International School participation from over 500+ students representing more than 17 schools from Surat. Winning team of TIRANGAA 2017 is J.H. Ambani Saraswati Vidhya Mandir.
The rapid economic growth experienced by India over the past decade has come with certain consequences. To encourage the greener ways of living, Tirangaa 2017 included activities such as eco-friendly colouring, planting race, best from waste, mask making, one minute to fame, street play, green quotient, working models etc. that were selectively built around the theme across the age groups. The fest provided a platform for schools and educators to teach children the value of environment and why it needs to be preserved by engaging them in fun activities.

Tirangaa 2017 is synonymous with creativity, talent, enthusiasm as the event provides a platform to school students to compete and showcase their skills” said Harish Doraiswamy, Vice President, Pearson Schools.
“Since the last year, we have been organizing Tirangaa with great success. This year, with ‘Celebrating the Environment’ theme, we aim to raise awareness around sustainability and environmental issues among students. The event will provide an interactive and engaging platform to school students for learn actions on environmental issues that will benefit everyone in the country and in the world”, said Ms. Seema Nayar, Principal,T M Patel International School.
The activities were assigned tothe students based on their classes. Students from pre-primary 1 and pre-primary 2 had coloring and fancy dress competition. Grade 1 and 2 were given the options of jigsaw puzzle and planting race. For grade 3 to 5 it was best from waste and mask making. Students of grade 6 to 8 had one minute to fame and poetry writing competition. Grade 9 to 12 students had the options of street play on ‘Nature: The story of matricide’ and green quotient.
Tirangaa is conceptualized by Pearson Schools in line with the vision of tapping hidden talent in every child. The event which is organized every year on the occasion of Independence Day provides a fun inter-school platform for children to compete and exhibit their skills.
To motivate and support the students there were pioneers of Gujarati and Hindi Film industry invited as chief guest. The campus was overwhelmed to witness the the first trailer of their upcoming movie Yashoda which is based on parenting. The Line Producer Mr. Hiren Tailor and Mr Jaimish Vinod and the Actors Mr Naimesh Navin, Mr Farzan Karanjia and Ms Maitri Shah appriciated the efforts taken by students and teachers and inspired them to pursue their talent and take it to the larger extend.
