Surat: Surat police department has decided to reinstate 600 Gramya Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawans who were relieved through an order by Surat police commissioner Satish Sharma on Monday. Decision was taken after group of GRD jawans along with Limbayat MLA Sangita Patil met Minister of State (MoS) Home of Gujarat, Pradipsinh Jadeja on Tuesday.
Surat police relieved 600 Gramya Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawans posted at various police stations in the city on Monday. Owing to staff crunch, 600 GRD jawans including 150 women jawans were posted in all police stations in Surat by police department.GRD jawans are also posted in Police Control Room (PCR) vans.
Sources added that as regular police staff has been recruited by police department, GRD jawans were relieved. Decision by police commissioner has irked GRD jawans and they met Limbayat MLA Sangita Patil. Sangita Patil along with group of 25 GRD jawans met MoS Jadeja and requested him to re-consider the order issued by Surat police department.
After realizing the problems faced by GRD jawans, MoS Jadeja asked Surat police department to reinstate all 600 jawans on immediate basis. Decision by minister brought smiles on face of GRD jawans and their family members.
