Rahul Gandhi says BJP dividing society

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused the BJP and the RSS of creating divisions in society “with a single aim of retaining power”.

Mr. Gandhi was on a day-long tour of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.

“In Haryana, they [BJP and RSS] pit Jats against non-Jats, in Maharashtra they pitted Marathas against non-Marathas and their aim is to somehow retain power. What about the major questions the country is facing,” he asked.

“The suit-boot ki sarkar does nothing for the farmers until and unless the Congress puts pressure on it. But Narendra Modi, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, had given Rs. 65,000 crore to one individual [Ratan Tata]. How many Nanos do you see in India today? But the farmers in Maharashtra are being asked to stand in queues and fill forms to avail loan waiver. They are also being asked as to which caste they belong.”
