Police nabs ATM thief and seize car, 12 ATM cards

Salabatpura Police arrested a conman who indulged in deceiving people at ATM machines on Monday. More than one lakh cash was recovered from him.

Acting on a tip off from informant, Salabatpura police officials have kept strict vigil over the accused Rajveer Bhat (28) near private hotel at Ring road.  A team of cops nabbed him when he arrived. Police confiscated Rs. one lakh cash, a mobile phone worth Rs 35 thousand and i20 Hyundai car. They also recovered 12 ATM cards of different banks from him.

Police detained him, where he confessed his crime, upon interrogation. The accused used to target people visiting the ATM identifying himself as a sales person. He used to help them in transaction at ATMs.  Meanwhile, secretly the accused would extract pin number from them and steal their ATM cards to take out cash. This was the modules operandi of the accused to deceive people. The numbers of people he deceived is yet to be recovered from the accused, a resident of Kamrej.

“On November 3, Devraj Rajpurohit reached ATM machine located at Sahara Darwaja near Bhagyoday hotel to withdraw some cash. After several attempt he failed to get the cash on which Rajveer who was standing nearby reached at him and observed PIN number while pretending to help. He also managed to change his counterfeit ATM card with of Rajpurohit’s card and later on withdrew more than one lakh from his account,” said sources. Another incident was observed five days ago at Udhna area when the accused targeted Pradeep Sharma and withdrew more than 70 thousand rupees from his account stealing his PIN number and ATM card.
