SURAT: Police booked a man in Adajan police station on Thursday for allegedly duping BJP MLA from Adajan constituency Purnesh Modi of Rs 15,000. The accused allegedly did not run a voice call campaign for the MLA as promised.
Prashant Nakrani, a resident of Adajan, lodged a complaint claiming that the accused Amit Shrivastav did not run the voice call campaign as promised. In the case Modi, a parliamentary secretary as well, received the call on his mobile phone in October when the accused Shrivastav informed him about the voice call services.
The accused told Modi that he will run a voice call campaign of 2 lakh calls for Rs 15,000. Agreeing to the offer Modi deposited the money in bank account of the accused number of which was provided over phone. Later the complainant contacted Shrivastav claiming that no campaign has been run as promised and demanded to return the money.
Despite several reminders to return the money the accused did not return the money after which the complainant lodge the complaint in police. Registering the complaint police started investigation and the accused will be arrested. Police suspect that the accused is making calls from out of Gujarat and he will be picked up from the city where he is running the business.
