Amul becomes the prime sponsor of the Kiwis

Vadodara: Home grown dairy giant Amul will now be associating itself with the New Zealand cricket team in the upcoming tournament ICC Champions Trophy which begins June 1 in England.

The dairy giant has previously associated itself with the ICC Cricket World Cup, Formula 1, and the London 2012 Olympic Games. Asia’s largest milk brand’s logo will now be seen on the sleeve of Blackcaps playing jerseys and on their training kits throughout the event.

The managing director of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF)-the apex body of Gujarat of all district dairy unions of Gujarat, RS Sodhi said, “We are excited about being associated with New Zealand cricket for the first time and Amul welcomes the Blackcaps. The Kiwis also come from a strong farming and cooperative dairy culture and this association seems a perfect fit.”

New Zealand stands fourth in the world following India in the ODI tournament. A warm up match with India on May 28 will see the Blackcaps playing with Amul appearing on their t-shirts. The next one will be on May 30 with Sri Lanka.

The ‘Taste of India’ has also previously sponsored in Netherlands’ cricket team in the World Cup and the Switzerland-headquartered Saumber’s F1 team at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix in 2011.
