Our readers would like to know about your creative journey so far? How did you reach this level, what tribulations and struggle did you have to face? It all started from my childhood as I started working for my family in an early age, the cartoonist phase you know, so when I was young I used to draw lines on the footpath with coal. And at that time I had no idea that these lines one day will take shapes of my cartoon characters like Motu-Patlu and many more. I was 13-14 years old when my first cartoon published in a magazine and I got Five rupees for it. At that time it was really a big thing for me; when you see your name being published, people know you, your family is happy. That cartoon slowly changed to steps, and then the comics came. I worked for different kinds of comics like Amar-Akbar, Bhootnath series, etc. After that my interest developed in writing as well so I started writing serials, film shows for TV, jingles for ad films and films and today here I am in front of you. I just thank god to make me capable of all this. Your artistic creation of Motu Patlu, a beloved series among the young readers of India and abroad, is also going to be telecasted on Nickelodeon. Please share your experiences. Motu Patlu has made a remark and is in history now. It is leading in the top in terms of TRP and it was one among the first Indian series when there was no sort of comics. Motu and Patlu are such characters who have come in every source like print, puppets, Muppets, 2-D and 3-D animation. I feel lucky to see my name behind these characters. I feel really happy about it and we are coming with many more characters like Mere Mama, Bhootnath, Chatku-Matku, Sheik Chilli and many more. We hope the audience and children like it and it becomes even more successful. During Motu Patlu’s music launch, Gulzar saheb tightly hugged me. He really liked few lines I read in front of him, as I am a great fan of him. The lines were “Hairaan hu jab geeto ka bazaar dekhta hu/ Kam akal bewajha se khareeddar dekhta hu/ Bekhudi me khud ko samjh betha tha main shayar/ Sar jhuk jata hai saamne Gulzar dekhta hoon. He loved it so much that embraced me tightly. As versatile as you are, how have you been able to illustrate a crowning number of 22,000 books? Kudos to your feat, please share your motivation and how you drive yourself to omit like this? It just happened. I enjoyed it, I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed what I made, enjoyed writing, be it any ad film or feature film, I always went in deep and thought if I was there at their place what all I could do. Enjoying your work is important because when your passion becomes your profession nothing is more beautiful than that. Understand that, just enjoy your work and never take it as a load or stress over it. If this happened with me I would have not made it to even 22 books. But when you enjoy, not only 22,000 but with god’s blessing it can reach to 22 Lakhs as well. Can you share with our readers your experiences in field of Ad Films making? Ad films are altogether a different thing. In about 10-20 seconds, you have to convey your message in a commercial. Ads films have to be more attractive, crispier and you convey the message in a simple yet beautiful manner. Many ad films you see are not even understandable to common man. But you will be happy to know that India sits atop in terms of quality and concept of ad films. It can vary in terms of quality sometimes or the technique but in terms of concept it is India and the maximum numbers of ads are also made in India. And I feel extremely lucky that I have been a part of that journey too. Tell us something about your new film Khoj. What is special about it that it has become the talk of the town? Khoj is a short film or I think, ‘Experimental documentary Biopic’ would be the right words to call it. I thought of doing something new and unique. So I came up with idea of shooting the entire film
